Two minute talk

  1. If I were an animal, I'd be...
  2. If there was not advertising, junk food would not be popular.
  3. Color affects mood.
  4. Poverty is just a state of mind .
  5. Being young is over-rated.
  6. Art is important for life.
  7. Peace is possible.
  8. Wisdom comes from experience.

What would you miss?

I have been eating Japanese food for seventeen years, therefore if I left Japan, I would miss many Japanese dishes. Of course I would miss sushi. I often go to revolving sushi, it is cheap and delicious. I love yakitori. You can eat it at British Japanese restaurants, but there are no yakitori restaurants. The atmosphere of a yakitori restaurant is wonderful. Hiroshima style okonomiyaki is also a tasty and reasonable Japanese dish.. Okonomiyaki restaurants also have a good and special atmosphere. If I left Japan, absolutely I would miss sushi, yakitori and okonomiyaki.

Imagine you were going to leave Japan, what things would you miss?
  1. What food would you miss?
  2. What place would you miss?
  3. What restaurant, cafe or shop would you miss?
  4. Who would you miss?
  5. What wouldn't you miss?

Then and Now

Stratford Road, Birmingham 1967
I have not been home to Birmingham for about ten years, but I have a lot of fond memories of the city. Recently I came across these pictures of the Stratford road in Birmingham. The road is very familiar for me, countless times I have ridden the number 24 bus, driven and ridden motorbikes along this road.  In these pictures there are a lot of changes, but just as many things have not changed.

  1. Before class think of some questions to ask me about these pictures.
  2. Think of a place in Kyoto that you liked, but has disappeared,  Prepare to tell the class about it.
  3. Think of a place in Kyoto that you like, that has a long history. Prepare to tell the class about it.
  4. Prepare to tell the class about a new place you like in Kyoto.
