Beautiful Architecture

Please watch the video and answer the questions.

  1. Which piece of architecture looked best at night?  Why do you think so?
  2. Which one looked best in the the day?  Why do you think so?
  3. Have you ever seen any of these structures?

Kyoto station is a little controversial, many people love it, but others think it does not suit the city. I think it is an amazing building and I love visiting it. It is vast and its modern design is a good contrast to the traditional buildings within the city. The height and shape of the roof make me feel that it is a cross between an old style British station and a European cathedral. For me it is fantastic.

Before class think of a piece of architecture you really like. Prepare to tell the class about it. If possible bring a picture.

Iron Bridge

Please watch the above English lesson about Iron Bridge, a place that was very important at the beginning of the industrial revolution. When I was in secondary school in Birmingham, my class went on an educational trip to Iron Bridge, it is a wonderful place.

Did you enjoy the video? Why or why not?
Was it easy to understand?
What did you learn from the video?
